The secret to a magical live launch that keeps you confident, high-vibe, and in your Zone of Magic (hint: it’s not the price *or* bonuses!).
Itās the last full week of August, which means weāre only a few days away from September.
September is my favorite month of the yearā¦ and not just because itās my birthday month.
Also not just because itās when the outdoor temps start to turn from āletās test your bodyās natural cooling functions against the strength of that antiperspirantā and skip happily toward āapple spice and everything niceā.
And not even just because September 1 is Hogwarts Day, when Iāll start my annual re-read of the entire series.
So what do I actually get the most excited about in September?
Itās time to start making magic.
September 1st is the starting line for a whole bunch of fun writing projects ā both personal and in my copywriting business ā that culminate in the magic that happens in November.
On the personal side, September 1st is the day I crack open a brand new fresh notebook and start planning for NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month): a month-long event starting November 1st when thousands of crazy writers around the world attempt to write a 50,000-word novel in 30 days.
If youāve never NaNoād before, participants tend to identify as either planners or pantsers ā which means we either:
- plan out our plot, characters, worldbuilding, etc, ahead of time… OR
- we wait until November 1st and fly by the seat of our pants for a month.
The first time I signed up for NaNoWriMo, I was convinced that the only truly ācreativeā way to do NaNo was as a pantser. And the result, letās be honest here, was a bitā¦ pants.
Hereās the truth: as much as we want to think weāll be more ācreativeā or āauthenticā if we write spontaneously in the moment,
TRUE CREATIVITY only comes when we give ourselves the space to think and plan.
This is even more true when it comes writing sales copy for a live launch.
There are so many moving parts in a live launch ā and all those pieces need to fit and move together in perfect harmony! And when we lock ourselves into writing parts of our sales copy on the fly, we risk gumming up the works.
Because hereās the thingā¦
If youāre caught up in the frantic rush of throwing that sales funnel together over the weekend before your launch goes live, youāre going into your launch exhausted (not to mention the embarrassment of having to tweak your funnel tech after everything goes live because you didnāt leave time to test it all ahead of time).
If youāve saddled yourself with writing all your launch emails in real-time, you wonāt have any creative juices left for thoughtful responses to questions that come up on the fly during your launch.
